FRIDAY 30TH-UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I wanted to let you know that Christine is being airlifted to UCLA Medical Center today.  The doctors feel that UCLA is better equiped to meet Christine's diversified needs.  I probably won't know more about her condition until tomorrow, as they'll be assessing her condition all over again.  As will put up an update as soon as I'm notified.  Again, please wait to visit her, as our primary concern is getting her the care she needs.  I will make a post letting you know when she can receive visitors.

THURSDAY 29TH-UPDATE WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

Christine went into surgery again today to remove the respirator and do the tracheotomy.  The respirator is more of a short term solution, but it can cause respiratory infections.  Also, she'll be able to speak without the respirator in her mouth.  She did open her eyes again today and looked directly at Kathy.  However, the hospital is sufficient enough to handle the diversity of her medical problems.  They are planning to move her tonight or in the morning, so she is in a facility that can better meet her needs.  The positive side will be that Christine will be closer to home.  I will update you when I know her location.  I realize that everyone will want to visit her, but please wait until I'm aware that she can receive visitors.  Remember, she is still in critical condition, so getting her more stable is the main goal right now.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE- WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

There hasn't been any significant changes to Christine's condition since surgery yesterday.  As I said, we should know more information on her progress over the next few days.  Today, Kathy, Mark, and her boyfriend (Brett) are by her side.  I look forward to giving some more positive news tomorrow.        TERRI(Christine's Aunt)

TUESDAY 27TH 2ND UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I am so happy to report that the surgery seemed to go well!  Several things were accomplished which are:
  • her abdomen was closed and mesh removed from her liver
  • she is off blood pressure medicine
  • her left forearm and leg were opened.  There was no infection in either limb.  Also, the muscles look good and pink.  Previously they were somewhat black, due to blood clots.
  • they couldn't do the tracheotomy, as the surgery took too long
  • she does have pneumonia, but is on medication for it
They did temporarily paralyze her so that she doesn't reopen the abdomen, as it was closed a little tightly.  Myself, I feel a real sigh of relief tonight!  Like many of you have said, "Christine is a fighter and a bit fiesty!"  I am so grateful she's been able to access that strength now. We'll know more over the next few days.

TUESDAY 27TH-UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

Unfortunately, there has been some confusion on some of the details of the accident.  First, I noticed that I put the accident occurred at 11:38PM but it was in the morning at 11:38AM.  I apologize for the mistake.  Christine and Brett(her boyfriend) were driving up to Kern on Friday 16th at 11:38AM.  The accident was just that-an accident.  It was in no way anyone's fault.  While they were driving and towing a boat, a semi-truck drove past them.  The gust of wind it created caused their vehicle, along with the boat, to fishtail and ultimately roll several times.  It would be a good idea for people to use the blog to obtain accurate information, minus the am pm mistake, as the truth is getting misconstrued.  The story seems to change slightly from person to person, but the blog will be the most accurate news on Christine's health.  Christine got out of surgery about an hour ago, so I'll have an update early this evening.  The important facts are that Brett was released from the hospital that day, and Christine does seem to be making improvements each day.

MONDAY 26TH UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

Great news!  Christine opened her eyes for the first time when Kathy called her name, although, she didn't make eye contact yet.  Still, it is a positive step forward.  She will be having another surgery on Tuesday to check all of her organs again.  Her abdomen will be closed at that time, as long as there's no further infection or complications.  They also hope to remove the respirator from her mouth, so they will most likely perform a tracheotomy.  Basically, it's a small incision into the throat, so that they can continue to help with her respiration(breathing).  She is improving slowly, but she is still critical.  The hope is to be able to move her down here after she is out of intensive care.  If she continues to improve, that will hopefully be in several weeks.  Thank you for all of your prayers and support for Christine and the family.

SUNDAY UPDATE- WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

The update today is similar to yesterday's update.  Although improving, Christine remains critical.  She did undergo dialysis again today to help support her kidneys.  It is mostly a waiting game now, as we are just praying she continues with no setbacks.  The next critical step will be when she wakes up, as the doctors will know more about  her future prognosis at that time.  I will continue to update you as I get updated.  I wish I had better news.  She has persevered for 9 days now, so my hope grows a little more with each day.  Again, there aren't even enough words of thanks for all the support you have shown for Christine and her family.   I read all of you comments to not only Christine, but to Kathy and Mark.  They are so grateful for all of the support for Christine!

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE- WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

Christine is still improving some day by day, with the exceptions of a few setbacks.  It is still extremely critical, as the doctors put it "there are many organs and body systems involved."  I just hold onto the fact that she is still here with us.  I heard a song this morning, which said exactly how I feel.  The said "when you put your arms around me I am home!"   Christine, I can't wait for that day.  I love you

FRIDAY EVENING-UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I just returned from visiting Christine in Bakersfield.  She took a slight setback yesterday, however she seems to have improved some again today.  Overall, the doctors states that she has definitely improved since last Friday.  He still said that she is in critical condition and that it's a day by day prognosis.  He is still concerned with her kidneys, as well as a few other things.  I did read to her all of your comments on the blog and Facebook.  The doctor assured me that he feels she can hear us, thus it can have a huge impact on her ability to recover.  Even though she's still in the coma, I noticed tears coming down her cheek as I read to her.  Again, the doctor felt that it could be because she heard me.  I really felt as though each comment was making a difference!  If nothing else, the love from everyone did comfort her family.  I saw the pony pictures up in her room, which really brighten it up.

THURSDAY MORNING- UPDATE- WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

Christine is having the surgery today to take out the abdominal packing and to begin to close her if possible.  However, it might take more than one surgery to close her abdomen, as it was quite extensive.  Although, she is making some improvements each day, she developed an infection(bug) today.  This bug might cause additional complications, but the effects are still unknown.  Again, the doctors prognosis is still that Christine is in critical condition.   I've been reading the comments from Facebook that I put into a binder to read to her tomorrow.  They've definitely given me strength, so I'm sure they will do the same for Christine.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE- WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

The good news is that Christine has made some positive strides forward, although the doctors still won't change her prognosis.  The surgery scheduled for today to take out the abdominal packing and close her has been switched to Thursday.  It has nothing to do with her progress.  Although, still on dialysis, her kidneys are functioning some what.  Kathy and Mark also mentioned that she does look better each day.  I'm sure the doctors just want to wait until they have a more stable diagnosis before getting our hopes up.  However, I must say that my hopes are up!  I copied all of the posts, so that I can read them to her when I go up on Friday.  Again, the doctors were clear that many coma patients can hear us.  I have absolutely no doubt that the tremendous words of love from all of you will give her the added push she needs.  Although, she can't receive any flowers now, I would be happy to take up any cards.  I plan to go up quite often, so just let me know.

TUESDAY EVENING- 9-20 UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I JUST WANTED TO ADD THAT CHRISTINE IS GOING IN FOR SURGERY AGAIN TOMORROW TO TAKE OUT THE PACKING IN HER ABDOMEN.  THE DOCTORS HOPE TO BE ABLE TO FINALLY CLOSE HER UP AT THAT POINT.  SHE IS STILL CRITICAL AND IN A COMA, BUT SEEMS TO BE MAKING SOME IMPROVEMENTS.  I WILL DEFINITELY UPDATE YOU TOMORROW AFTER I FIND OUT MORE.  IT'S SAD THAT IT SOMETIMES TAKES A TRAGEDY LIKE THIS TO FULLY REALIZE HOW MUCH PEOPLE MEAN TO US.  I'M ASTOUNDED AT THE AMOUNT OF LOVE THAT HAS BEEN BESTOWED ON CHRISTINE AND OUR FAMILY. WE LOVE YOU, CHRISTINE! HOPEFULLY, I'LL BE ABLE TO SAY THOSE WORDS DIRECTLY TO YOU.

TUESDAY 9-20 UPDATE-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I am so happy to report, although still in critical condition, that Christine seems to making some more improvements!  Her kidneys are functioning better, lung function has improved some, and they are possibly reducing the sedatives, so it is possible her mother and father will be able to see her open her eyes.  It is difficult for me to even write this, as I'm crying with tears of hope and some relief.  The prayers and love everyone is pouring out seem to be getting through to her, so please keep it up!  Although, she is still in critical condition there is more hope at this moment.  I promise to keep you informed the second I know of any changes either way.  I can't thank you enough for all of the words of encouragement  for Christine and her family.  The love and stories are definitely keeping me positive, for that I am eternally grateful.  If you're having difficulty posting on the blog, I think you need to join first.  Just click join up at the far right.  Once you join, click on comments at the bottom of my posts.  Then click publish post on the bottom.  Please leave any comments, stories and memories of you times with her, and your support.  Besides giving the family hope, I also plan to reach each and every post to her.  I really believe it will be of great comfort to her during the difficult road back.

POST SURGERY UPDATE MONDAY 5PM-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I wanted to let everyone know that Christine made it through the surgery!  Although she is still on the critical list, her lung function has improved slightly.  The doctors won't give us any definite prognosis yet, but we feel very encouraged by the outcome.  All of your prayers seem to be working, so please keep it coming.  Again, I plan to read everything that is being said about her.  Even if she is still in the coma, those words are keeping Christine and her family going.  I can't thank you enough!

NEW MONDAY UPDATE 9-19-WE LOVE YOU CHRISTINE

I am happy to report that there has been a slight improvement in Christine's condition due to the dialysis!  The surgery that was scheduled for yesterday, but canceled due to her declining condition is back on today.  I should know more after the surgery by later this afternoon.  A friend commented on Christine's Facebook that she is a fighter.  It is definitely that spunky attitude and the love of all of you pulling for her that makes it possible to do the surgery today.

September 18th 2011 Christines Condition

Hello friends and family,

This is Terri Murnane, I am Christines Aunt and I found that making this blog would be a great way to update everyone on her condition.

As you may or may not know, Christine was involved in an accident on Friday September 16th 2011 at 11:38 pm. Christine and her boyfriend were taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment. She has gone through one surgery and is still in the ICU. She broke her pelvis, had her spleen removed, as well as part of her lung. Her kidneys are failing also, she is being placed on dialysis in the morning.

Her parents, Mark and Kathy, are with her right now at Kern County Medical Center.
I was up there earlier and Kathy requested that I set something up to update friends and family on her condition. I will be checking this blog and making updates on a daily basis. Also, when Christine gets better she will be able to look at the messages you sent and be reminded of all the love and support that she has in this world.

Please send your love and prayers towards Christine and her family. We know that with enough love and support, larger miracles have happened.
